X-Ray Holography

X-rays offer unique possibilities for imaging. The short wavelength enables high spatial resolution, while resonant scattering provides unique contrast mechanisms such as x-ray magnetic dichroism. The use of coherent x-rays makes unconventional imaging approaches possible. We have pioneered mask-based x-ray holography and develop lensless imaging techniques e.g. for pump-probe experiments, femtosecond time resolved imaging at Free Electron Lasers or magnetic imaging at synchrotron radiation sources such as BESSY II. Our research is characterized by a close interplay of method development and the application of the techniques in focus areas such as nanomagnetism.
